Sunday, 25 October 2020, ParisLongchamp. - Travelling from the north of England, like his stablemate Gear Up the day before in the Critérium de Saint-Cloud (Gr1), the 3-year-old Subjectivist (Teofilo) won the Prix Royal-Oak (Gr1) by beating the only other 3-year-old in the race, Valia (Sea The Stars). Mark Johnston’s trainee led the entire race and even though he veered left to the outside rail in the homestretch, he held on. In his wake from the start, the 2018 edition winner Holdthasigreen (Hold That Tiger) had tried to run away going off the bend along the rail, but he could not keep up with the future winner in the last furlong. Held further back, Valia finished well after taking some time to find momentum, and came to finish just two lengths behind the winner. Holdthasigreen stayed on in third to beat a brave Princess Zoe (Jukebox Jury).

Bought for £ 62,000 at the Newmarket sales, Subjectivist won at 2 and a second place in a Listed event, then went further at 3 to win a Listed in Germany, and a place in a Group 3 at Goodwood, where he won a Group 3 over 1m6f before disappointing again in the St. Leger. He had also failed in the Great Voltigeur Stakes (Gr2) this summer in York.

Her sister by Ulysses was bought for £ 140,000 at the Newmarket sales this month.
