Third in the Prix Riviera Côte d'Azur - Jacques Bouchara (L) in 2018, Pump Pump Palace (King's Best) this time won the race with a nicer trip. Winner for his return to Cagnes last time out, the Bernard and Jean-Claude Bouret-bred held off Pretorio (Aussie Rules), which had just won two handicaps and had hiked the weights ladder by 17Lbs. Roc Angel (Rock of Gibraltar) fought well to the end and  finally settled for third place.

At age 6, Pump Pump Palace was running for the 33rd time. It was also his 6th win and he's now standing above over €300,000 in prizeminey and premiums. Still owned by his breeders and trained by Jean-Pierre Gauvin in the Centre-Est of France, he is out of the winning mare Pump Pump Girl (Kendor), like Pump Pump Boy (Kingsalsa), a Listed winner at the age of 3 but also 3rd in the Prix de la Riviéra ... The most recent foal out of Pump Pump Girl, which was sold in 2014 for 20 000 € full of Slickly to Zied Romdhane, is a filly born in 2017 and bred by Roger-Yves Simon and his family . She is named Live A Paris (Sri Putra) and she was sold yearling for €8,000 to ... Jean-Pierre Gauvin!

(L), run over the mile on AWT and Englis raider Barys (Kodiac), trained by Archie Watson in Lambourn, proved to be the stoutest one in this field of 11. Trained in Lambourn by Archie Watson, ,he was coming back three months after his last race and only previous win, on the all-weather track at Lingfield. The French favorite Pizzicato (Dabirsim) gave the feeling of being able to gain the upper hand halfway into the last straight, but the leader, who was wearing blinkers for the second time, has restarted, leaving the representative of Antoine Gilibert, Écurie Vivaldi and his trainer Fabrice Chappet take second place in front of an excellent Walhaan (Dark Angel).

The next Listed in Cagnes will take place on Saturday February 16th with the Prix Saônois (L), for 4 years and above on 1 600m (PSF). Then, Saturday, February 23rd will be the last meeting, support of a Quinté+ race, and the Grand Prix du Département 06 (L), for 4 years and above on 2,500m (Turf) - 1st stage of the Défi du Galop.

Auteuil opens its doors on Tuesday, February 26th. The jumps north of the Loire will have resumed at Angers February 17 and Fontainebleau February 19 and again in Angers February 24.
