Prix Robert Papin: Royal Ascot winners set their sights on the #DarleySeries

At Thursday's probable runners stage, six two-year-old colts and fillies were still in the Darley Prix Robert Papin (Gr2), which will be run over 5 ½ furlongs this Sunday at Maisons-Laffitte. It will be the first of the three #DarleySeries races, contested before the Darley Prix de Cabourg (Gr3), which is run a week later at Deauville, and the Darley Prix Morny (Gr1), the final, which is scheduled on 19th August.

Just like the current title-holder, Unfortunately (Society Rock), three of the six contenders in the Darley Prix Robert Papin hail from Great Britain. Only the unbeaten Sexy Metro (Diamond Green) and Simply Striking (Kheleyf) fly the flag for France in this very British sprint for early-bloomers. The former is trained in Mont-de-Marsan by Didier Guillemin for Gérard Augustin-Normand, Alain Jathière and Écurie Jules Ouaki, while the second is stabled at Chantilly with Mauricio Delcher-Sanchez, who trains him for Pandora Racing and Ahmed Mouknass. Italian horse You Better Run (Thewayyouare) is in the field.

Among the youngsters in the running is Pocket Dynamo (Dialed In), who came second in the Norfolk Stakes (Gr2) at Royal Ascot, and Signora Cabello (Camacho) who won the Queen Mary Stakes (Gr2). Unfortunately, Little Kim (Garswood), the winner of the Prix du Bois (Gr3), was taken out. She is trained by Karl Burke, just like the current title-holder and True Mason (Mayson), the other British raider still in the race…
