Mabs Cross (Dutch Art), the British filly ridden by Gérald Mossé, came with a strong run to take the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longines (Gr1). in the final strides. Gold Vibe (Dream Ahead), having been tracked by the winner, had to settle for second – a place of front of the two-year-old Soldier’s Call (Showcasing) who went very close to pulling off a notable feat. Battaash (Dark Angel), the defending champion and pacesetter, finished out of the places in fourth. Mabs Cross was coming off a second in the Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr1) and, with her first choice riders being sidelined through injury, Gérald Mossé stepped up to the mark with aplomb.
How they ran
- 1st – Mabs Cross: After racing in mid-field, the filly made headway hand over fist after coming with a sustained run which enabled her to swoop decisively on the outside.
- 2nd – Gold Vibe: After racing in fourth, became embroiled in a protracted struggle with Soldier’s Call before being denied by the final assault of Mabs Cross on his outside.
- 3rd– Soldier’s Call: Disputed the lead in tandem with Battaash and, after holding every chance, was denied in the dying throes.
- 4th – Battaash: Tried to make all and battled on gamely to the bitter end.
- 5th – Lost Treasure: Slowly away before making strong headway at the business end. May even have finished closer had he not clipped heels with some of the other runners at the death.
- 6th– Different League: Was noted doing his best work at the finish but without getting on terms with the principals.
- 7th – Tantheem: Slowly away, she made a good final effort despite not being able to stride out entirely fluently after suffering minor interference from Different League.
- 8th – Havana Grey: After racing in fifth, was able to raise his game at the sharp end as he kept on at one pace.
- 9th – Finsbury Square: Never beyond mid-division.
- 10eth– City Light: Towards the rear, flattered briefly but not a factor after that.
- 11th – Alpha Delphini: Never placed to challenge.
- 12th – Cox Bazar: After racing prominently in third, he backtracked once the race hotted up.
- 13th– Sioux Nation: Never a factor.
- 14th – Hit The Bid: Never placed to challenge.
- 15th– Declarationofpeace: Never on terms.
- 16th Antonella: Formed part of the leading group before weakening quickly.

L’anglaise Mabs Cross (Dutch Art), sous la poigne de Gérald Mossé, est venue arracher la victoire dans les dernière foulées, dans le Prix de l’Abbaye de Longines (Gr1). Gold Vibe (Dream Ahead), que la future lauréate a suivi dans sa progression, a dû se contenter de la deuxième place devant le 2ans Soldier’s Call (Showcasing), qui est passé tout près de l’exploit. Le tenant du titre Battaash (Dark Angel), qui a mené les débats, termine au pied du podium.
Mabs Cross restait sur une deuxième place dans les Nunthorpe Stakes (Gr1). Ses jockeys habituels étant blessés, Gérald Mossé les a remplacés au pied levé.
Comment ils ont couru
- 1er – Mabs Cross : Après avoir patienté à mi peloton, a refait son retard mètre après mètre à l’issue d’une longue accélération, s’imposant sûrement tout à l’extérieur.
- 2e – Gold Vibe : En quatrième position dans le parcours, a longtemps bataillé pour la victoire avec Soldier’s Call… avant de se faire reprendre par le dernier assaillant Mabs Cross tout à l’extérieur.
- 3e – Soldier’s Call : Co-animateur de l’épreuve, avec Battaash, a très longtemps fait illusion pour la victoire… ne s’avouant vaincu que tout à la fin.
- 4e – Battaash : A animé l’épreuve, se défendant très bien jusqu’au bout.
- 5e – Lost Treasure : Mal parti, a signé une très belle fin de parcours. Aurait même fini plus près s’il n’avait buté contre les chevaux devant lui, tout à la fin.
- 6e – Different League : A produit une belle accélération finale, ne pouvant toutefois contester la supériorité des premiers.
- 7e – Tantheem : Pas très bien partie, a produit un bon effort mais a vu son action un peu cassée, légèrement gênée par Different League.
- 8e – Havana Grey : En cinquième position dans le parcours, a dû laisser les autres partir au moment décisif et a poursuivi à son rythme.
- 9e – Finsbury Square : Toujours en milieu de peloton.
- 10e – City Light : Avec les derniers, a fait un petit bout mais sans être dangereux.
- 11e – Alpha Delphini : N’a pu jouer aucun rôle.
