Open stretches have been laid out at ParisLOngchamp since April, when the new racecourse was reopened. This opens up the fields going into the final furlongs and is designed to give more chances for runner to perform, especially when the fileds are large.

It has been well received by most jockeys and trainers alike.

However, it has a collateral effect that needs to be neutralized to better preserve the ground throughout the season. The six-meter offset outside the rails reduces the available ground on one of the narrowest parts of the course, with some gallops overlapping in the end as the rail goes wider.

France Galop has therefore decided not to use the open stretch at these meetings :

  • Sunday, September 2 (rail at 8m);
  • Wednesday, September 5 (rail at 12m);
  • Wednesday, September 12 (rail at 20m);
  • Saturday, September 22nd (rail at 24m);
  • Thursday, October 18 (rail at 10m);
  • Sunday, October 21 (rail at 14m);
  • Tuesday, October 30 (rail at 26m).

However, the open stretch will be in place at the following meetings:

  • Sunday, September 9th (rail at 16m with open stretch at 22m);
  • Sunday, September 16th (rail at 0 with open stretch at 6m);
  • Saturday, October 6 (rail at 16m with open stretch at 22m);
  • Sunday, October 7 (rail at 0 with open stretch at 6m);
  • Sunday, October 28th (rail at 20m with open stretch at 26m).
