Every Tuesday, we focus on the maiden winners of the past week on the France Galop racecourses, an opportunity to discover some of tomorrow's champions ...

GEORGE THE PRINCE (C3), FRA by My Risk and Sea Starling (Slickly)
Prix Idle Boy (3yo Maiden, 1,200m Turf), May 17, Maisons-Laffitte
Owner: Claire Stephenson & Guy Nabet
Trainer: Georges Doleuze
Breeder: Claire Stephenson
Rider: Christophe Soumillon

Ninth for his debut in March at Saint-Cloud, twenty lentghs behind future Prix de Guiche (Gr3) winner Phelps Win, George the Prince had the blinkers on for his second attempt over the mile at Saint-Cloud. He led the field and held on bravely but couldn't keep up with beginner Wren's Day, followed by Guanacaste and Shams Brazilero - who later provided the winning exacta in another maiden over the mile, on Monday at Chantilly.
Shortened to a 1,200 meters straight trip here for this third trial, blinkers on again, with Christophe Soumillon on board, George The Prince clearly dominated this, putting more than 3 lentghs between him and his best rival in a couple of decisive strides.
His dam Sea Starling entered stud a maiden after 15 unsuccessful attempts for the same connections.
George The Prince is her second foal after Sea and Stars (Siyouni), still a maiden but racing in handicaps around 10f. Sea Starling has since given a female foal by Alianthus and a male by Sinndar.
Her best brother is Mr Splendid (Zieten), who ran seven seasons and won seven races, mostly handicaps below the mile.
George the Prince's sire, My Risk, is a very versatile stallion who himself was a top miler in France with a third place in the Prix Jacques le Marois (Gr1).

L'INVINCIBLE (F3), FRA by Invincible Spirit and Brasileira (Dubai Destination)
Prix Crudité (Maiden, 3yo fillies, 1,200m turf), May 17, Maisons-Laffitte
Owner: Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois
Trainer: Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois
Breeder: Stable Serval & Hervé de Talhouët-Roy
Rider: Gérald Mossé

Like George The Prince, L'Invincible has no doubt found hers way over shorter trips. It was only in her seventh attempt that the Jean-Pierre Dubois owned and trained filly, sold at Arqana's August yearlings sale by the Haras des Sablonnets for € 270,000 to Oceanic Bloodstock, opened her winning account.
She had first been sent to André Fabre, for whom she started unsuccessfully once at 2, and then joined her owner's string. He initially aimed her at the southern program this winter (2nd in Vivaux over 1,500m, for instance) before returning to the Paris region, where she was twice placed 3rd over 6f before finally winning this at Maisons-Laffitte. Quick out of the stalls by the stands' rail, she was kept behind the leaders by Gerald Mosse until the last furlong, then the jockey drove her inside and won very handsomely.
L'Invincible is the first foal out of Brasileira, winner of two Listed races in the Provinces. She was bred by Chryss O'Reilly's Petra Bloodstock, like her sister Sandbar (Oasis Dream), winner of the Prix Cleopatre (Gr3) and 3rd of the Prix de Diane (French Oaks-Gr1) behind Sarafina and Rosanara, beating Deluxe and Zagora!
By mating Brasileira to a son of Green Desert, like Oasis Dream, the breeders of L'Invincible may have wanted to create a "new" Sandbar. The mare has since mat Lawman - a son of Invincible Spirit -, and gave a male born in 2015.

SATINE (F3), FRA by Motivator and Honorable Love (Highest Honor)
Prix de la Flandrie (Maiden, 3 year olds, 2 100m lawn), Friday 19 May 2017 in Saint-Cloud
Owner: Wendy Taylor
Trainer: Nicolas Clément
Breeder: Philip Taylor
Rider: Stéphane Pasquier

For her debut at Saint-Cloud, Satine took the lead and fought hard against Foulognes, who prevailed finally just to get beat by a fast finishing Lady Paname, who had come a long way. In that race, Snirvana (Elusive Quality) had been unlucky behind them and she was back for a revenge against Satine on this same trip. Yet the two fillies tactics were much revised. This time indeed, Snirvana, who had finished 2nd at Lyon since then, took the lead while Stephane Pasquier let Satine settle as the filly was sporting a hood for the first time. Yet he managed to take over her rival again to win by a half length.

Unlike her siblings, Satine has never been entered to the sales. The great Dahlia appears in her family at the 5th generation, but her dam Honorable Love only won twice in Britain and one needs to read down to the third dam to find a Group winner: Peace Envoy (Power), 3rd in last year's Darley Prix Morny (Gr1) for trainer Aidan O'Brien but only 10th this season in the Abu Dhabi Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas, Gr1).

Main entries : Ribblesdale Stakes (Gr2).

MALKOBOY (C3-PHOTO), FRA by Rajsaman and Goldy Honor (Highest Honor)
Prix du Pre Catelan (Maiden, 3yo C&G, 2,100m turf), May 19, Saint-Cloud

Owner: Henri-Alex Pantall
Trainer: Henri-Alex Pantall
Breeder: Yvette Chabot and Henri-Alex Pantall
Rider: Pierre-Charles Boudot

Parabellum (Dubawi), Arqana top yearling in 2015 with a €2.6m tag, started as the favorite for his 2nd attempt after a very hot debut at Chantilly. On that stormy Friday afternoon hoiwever, the Godolphin colt could not do anything against the French gray Malkoboy, a model of consistency this season with three second second places, behind Plumatic and then Shakeel. This time, the representative of Henri-Alex Pantall, breeder, owner and trainer of the stout colt, held off his rival to win by a short neck.

Malkoboy is the fourth winner out of the unraced Goldy Honor, dam of Goldy Espony (Vespone), winner of Group races in France and the United States. Since Malkoboy, the mare gave birth to a filly of Authorized named Goldy Hauty.
