October 21, 2021, Auteuil Racecourse (Paris). - Winner of the Finot Fillies Beginners' Hurdle (L) last time out, Hawai du Berlais (Martaline) perfectly managed a gound deepened by heavy rains and a duel between the two favourites La Chenevière (Montmartre) and Matilda du Berlais (Martaline) in the Haras d’Etreham Magne 3yo Fillies Hurdle (Gr3). She joined those two leaders between the last two hurdles and finally took over La Cheneviere, who was giving her 2lbs, in the run-in.
Matilda du Berlais, already 3rd in the Haras d'Étreham Chambly 3yo Fillies Hurdle (Gr3) behind La Chenevière, once again finished at the same placing.
Both the winner and the third-placed were bred by Jean-Marc Lucas at the Haras du Berlais. The winner is the 2nd foal out of Hilton du Berlais (Saint des Saints), a Gr3-winner over hurdles at Auteuil, also the dam of a 2-year-old Martaline filly in training with Yannick Fouin. Two Doctor Dino colts follow up.
Hilton du Berlais is a sister to several Group winners over jumps, including Madison du Berlais (Indian River), also Gr1-placed in Britain.
