Sunday, June 14, Chantilly. - The Prix Ganay (Gr1), a race for aged horses over 2,100m/10.5f, looked very much like the Prix d'Harcourt (Gr2), but the favourite Sottsass (Siyouni) had improved a lot and he managed to win this time. Winner of the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) last year on this course and distance, then third in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr1), this representative of White Birch Farm trained by Jean-Claude Rouget finished only 4th for his seasonal return. This time, he travelled by the small 5-runners field, took over two out and contained Way To Paris (Champs Elysees) to the post to win by a head. Winner of the Prix d'Harcourt (Gr2) previously, Shaman (Shamardal) led all the way and stayed on in 3rd at three lengths, a neck ahead off his stablemate for Wertheimer&Frère, Palomba (Lope de Vega).

Consigned by the Ecurie Monceaux at the Deauville sales, Sottsass was bought as a yearling for € 340,000.

Way To Paris had won last time out over 2,500m/12.5f in the Grand Prix de Chantilly (Gr2), run in Deauville this season.
