Sunday, May 16, 2021, ParisLongchamp Racecourse (Paris). - Served with an ideal trip in the 134th renewal of the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (French One Thousand Guineas, Gr1), sponsored by the Emirates, the outsider Cœursamba (The Wow Signal) denied Aidan O’Brien a Classic double. His Newmarket Guineas winner Mother of Earth (Zoffany) at one stage looked well placed to make ii in Paris too. Ridden without much pressure by the rail by Cristian Demuro, Cœursamba suddenly burst inside and wiped out the average impression she'd left recently. She left Mother of Earth to finish a good second over a length behind, Kennella (Kendargent) closing strongly for 3rd place, beating Sweet Lady (Lope de Vega), always near the leaders, and See the Rose (Kendargent), who had had to deal with her 12-draw. The stewards led a long inquiry after this shaky last straight but the result finally stood.

Third for her comeback in the conditional Prix du Louvre, Cœursamba had finished 4th last season in the Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr1) after she was sold for € 400,000 to race under Abdullah Fahad Ah Al-Attiyah's colours. It was her 3rd auction already, since she was sold for €20,000 as a weanling, and then as a yearling for €40,000 to Jean-Claude Rouget. 3rd in the Prix Six Perfections (Gr3) and the Prix d’Aumale (Gr3), she was then racing for Jean-Louis Tepper.

An Olympic Glory brother to Cœursamba was paid €25,000 at the Deauville sales last October. It is a bloodline originating at the Head family's Haras du Quesnay, who bred the dam Maréchale (Anabaa), who was claimed once and ended her career with one single run for Francine Mestrallet, finishing 11th at Landivisiau.
