France Galop on Sunday's abandonment

France Galop press release. - On Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Saint-Cloud, the race meeting had to be abandoned due to a protest initiated by the "Save Racing" group whose members prevented the normal and safe conduct of the meeting.

The seven races on the card that have not been contested will not be run this year.

In recent days, France Galop's management had agreed to meet the representatives of the "Save Racing" prior to racing on Sunday to discuss a plan to reduce France Galop budget by €25m in 2018. The meeting lasted about an hour with Edouard de Rothschild and Olivier Delloye, respectively president and general manager of France Galop, taking part in the negociations. Although the mood proved constructive, the movement persisted afterwards, pushing the organization of racing into a dead end.

The France Galop Executive Board meets as planned on Monday 30 October, and the 2018 budget is on the agenda. A number of adjustments resulting from the contributions of various professional associations at the Flat Committee, the Jumps Committee and France Galop Board will be discussed then.
