For the second consecutive year, the Papot family finishes at the top of the list of French owners over jumps. The dark green and blue silks ends the 2018 season with over 3 million euros in earnings, 643 wins for 344 races run by 86 individual horses. With an average of €35.8k in prize money per horse, the stable recorded nice returns and finished well in front of the runner-up and usual rival Magalen Bryant, whose 63 representatives raced 244 times, won 38 races and took €1.64 million euros in earnings!
The Papots have therefore clearly gained the upper hand this time, thanks in particular to Galop Marin's four consecutive wins in the autumn, which alone represent € 434,820 in prize money, ie 14% of the stable's score over the year. Winner of the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (Gr1), On the Go contributed € 411,600 to this result.
Mrs. Bryant is not outdone on that front since Whetstone won € 385,250 without running in the Autumn. Owned by Jacques Détré, champion Hurdler De Bon Coeur, who also missed the 2nd part of the season, has finished ninth in earnings, but she also boasts the best rating of the year in France and indeed in Europe.
Third in the rankings, the Haras de Saint-Voir managed by Nicolas de Lageneste continues to distinguish itself. The red and white stable finishes ahead of Jacques Détré, who holds 50% of the Prix La Haye Jousselin (Gr1)'s winner Bipolaire.
Fifth in earnings, Guillaume Macaire's own Palmyr Racing, concludes the year with € 1.2 m but also 113 wins, the top tally in 2018 in front of the neighbour trainer, Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé (70 wins), while a third Charentais finishes fourth with 60 winners in 2018, that is François Nicolle.
The British partners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's horses have made a total of € 2m in earnings, but they can not individually claim the podium. Sixth and ninth respectively in the standings, they would have taken the lead in 2017, the previous season, had they joined in one single banner. Master Dino, whom they each own 30%, gave them a lot last year with a total of € 418,760 in winnings.
