Trained by Andre Fabre, now fifteen times winner of the race, for his breeder-owner Khaled Abdullah, Finche bravely fought off the unbeaten favorite Afandem to score by half a length in the Prix Eugène Adam, Sunday at Maisons-Laffitte.

Always well placed behind the leaders, Finche (Frankel) bravely held off a tough attack condeucted by the favorite Afandem (Zoffany) at the end of the 1m1/4-long Prix Eugène Adam (Gr2), Grand Prix de Maisons-Laffitte. Trained by André Fabre, a record winner of 15 renewals of that race, Finche was racinf for the third time in his career. Avilius (Pivotal) finished well for Godolphin to snatch third place from Volfango (Dutch Art) while the returning Phelps Win (Muhtathir), who had not run since May and his win in the Prix de Guiche (Gr3), had to settle for fifth place after briefly pretending 2 out.

Finche is a Juddmonte Farm homebred. He's is the tenth foal from Frankel's first crop to win a Group race.

Finche's dam, Binche (Woodman), earlier gave the super tough Byword (Famous Painter), winner of the Prince of Wales' Stakes (Gr1) at Royal Ascot and now a sire in South Africa, and Proviso (Dansili), unfortunately bred the same year than Zarkava and Goldikova, finished 4th in the Prix de Diane before becoming one of the best mares in the United States, where she won four consecutive Gr1s.
