Du Breuil Longines : all roads lead to the mile

The five runners confirmed in the Prix Bertrand du Breuil Longines (Gr3), a mile race for horses aged 4 and above, bring together a wide variety of profiles. The Japanese Geniale (Deep Impact), a son of champion mare Sarafina, runs for the first time this season. Trairs Fluors (Dansili), the best on paper, left a rather good impression last time out and he took the second place of this race last year, one year after winning the Prix Paul de Moussac, which also takes place this Sunday at Chantilly over the mile round course.

Third in the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr1) last year, Louis d'Or (Intello) has failed several times since and he returns to a shorter distance for a new trainer, Laurent Loisel, for whom he has just made a comeback finishing seventh out of seven just behind Patascoy, who also beat him a year ago in the French Derby!

Charlie Appleby trains the gelding Vintager (Mastercraftsman), also shortened after four unsuccessful attempts over longer trips, at the end of last year and this season, in Britain at an apparently lower level.

The only mare of the lot, Lunch Lady (Shamardal) completes this parade. She seems to have what it takes to win this race like Hunaina did last year because her most recent rivals would start odds-on in this.

Also noteworthy on Sunday is the Qatar 4-year-old Arabians Derby (Gr1 PA), a match between Qatar, represented by five horses, and five other contenders from the Abu Dhabi Emirate's ruling family!
