Always well placed in the Arqana Prix Chloé (Gr3), Saturday night in Chantilly over 9 furlongs, Suphala (Frankel) took her time but she won easily, taking over the leading Romancière (Dansili), whom she had followed, in the last 100 yards to score by a neck. The English front-runner Imperial Charm (Dubawi) held on in 3rd.

Owned by Lady Bamford, bought € 650,000 at the Arqana yearling sales and bred in France by Etreham and Equine, Suphala had just won a Listed after failing in the French 1,000 Guineas (Gr1), on heavy ground with a troubled trip.

Suphala is out of Sefroua (Kingmambo), winner of a Listed and herself from the champion filly Sophisticat (Storm Cat), born from the union of one of the best sires in America and Serena's Song, also one of the best American mares.

After Suphala, Sefroua gave birth to a Golden Horn colt bought € 200,000 in Deauville last summer, now 2 years old and in training with Carlos Laffon-Parias for breeder-owner Haras d'Etreham. he's due to start on Wednesday, July 3 at Deauville. A Le Havre filly and another one by Almanzor, born this year, follow.

Matematica (Rock of Gibraltar) finished fourth with a good run. She could not speed up to finish. Ashtara (Gio Ponti) finished well in fifth place, one month after his victorious debut.
