What better sport than one that unites the sheer power of a horse with the talent of a jockey? Over the years we have marvelled at performances by horse racing’s greatest stars, whose names will forever be associated with the sport of kings. Who could forget the dandy Yves Saint-Martin, Lester Piggott or, more recently, the impetuous Christophe Soumillon and “stuntman” Christophe Pieux? Not forgetting, of course, the equine heroes and heroines who set the turf alight with their thundering hooves: the incredible Al Capone II, legendary Native Dancer, and the exquisite Princesse d’Anjou.
