Deauville-La Touques Summer Meeting is a top-class equestrian event, held from the end of July right through the month of August. In 2011, the prestigious Norman racecourse boasted a top-notch summer programme, with no fewer than 5 Group 1 flat races (racing’s highest category) held over the 19 race days (including 3 evening race meetings).

Visitors to this famous racecourse, located in the world’s most elegant seaside resort, were treated to a host of suitably-festive events throughout the Summer Meeting. Alongside the spectacular sporting action, an exceptional programme of entertainment was on offer.

In 2011, a great festival was organised to celebrate the 140th edition of the Lucien Barrière Grand Prix de Deauville. Top-level athletes, jockeys, horses, breeders and trainers took to the red carpet, just like the great American movie stars who are honoured every autumn in Deauville. With a Hollywood-style “Walk of Fame”, autograph signings, parades through the town, a screening of the latest Walt Disney film “Secretariat”, and a gala evening, complete with “Galops d’Or” awards to honour the meeting’s most illustrious names, Deauville was definitely the place to be in summer 2011!
