In Paris on Tuesday 25th May 2010, the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC) and France Galop signed an agreement to prolong their partnership for the sponsoring of the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe from 2013 to 2022. The purpose of this partnership is to develop races for pure-bred Arabs and English thoroughbreds through the promotion of events organised by the QREC and the opening up of the Qatari racing governing body (QREC) to the world of English thoroughbreds.
The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is a unifying event, created thanks to this alliance, which underpins a fully-fledged strategy for the promotion and development of an international-standard racing programme in Qatar. The QREC sponsors pure-bred Arab and English thoroughbred races in 4 European countries, including France with the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend and the Qatar Arabian World Cup, the 1st stage of the Qatar Arabian World Challenge, held on Arc day. The following two stages take place in Doha: the Qatar International Trophy and H.H The Emir's Sword. The winning owners in these 3 events receive prize money of 200,000 Euro and a gold trophy encrusted with diamonds and rubies.
